Adoption Requirements
We are delighted that you are considering opening your loving home to an animal in need. The following information will help you prepare for the day when you adopt a Bideawee pet. We will be glad to help you in any way we can, and we thank you for supporting us.
The following are the adoption requirements at Bideawee: A Completed Adoption Application
Two forms of identification
One must have a photo and one must have your name and current address.
Each member of the household must be present
Shelter animals come from a variety of home environments and can behave differently around different people. At Bideawee, to match you with the right pet, we want to make sure every member of a future home becomes acquainted with the animal. Moving into a new place can be stressful for any animal, and especially animals who have been living in a shelter environment. Meeting everyone here first reduces stress and eases the pet's transition from the shelter to a new home.
Proof of pet ownership eligibility
We work hard to find the right homes for our pets and the right pets for our adopters. For people who live in apartments or other shared community dwellings, an important factor to consider during this process is building or property restrictions. A copy of your co-op or townhouse bylaws, lease or the contact information for your landlord will allow us to verify that once you bring your new pet home, he or she will be a permanent, welcome tenant.
Adoption Fee
All of us at Bideawee are grateful to our many generous supporters. The care we provide for the animals here throughout their stays is very costly. To help offset these expenses, there is a processing fee for each adoption. In NYC, there is an additional license registration fee required for those who adopt a dog.
Bideawee spends an average of $500 caring for each animal during their stay with us. Additional donations are very much needed and greatly appreciated. To make a donation online, please click here
